Training on Natural Farming Held at Anand Agricultural University

Around 65 farmers from Bhavnagar district participated
Anand, Wednesday: The Institute of Distance Education (IDEA) at Anand Agricultural University organized a two-day training program on natural farming at Aniket Khedut Nivas, Anand for 65 farmers from Bhavnagar, Gariyadhar, and Jesar talukas of Bhavnagar district.
During the training, Dr. G. N. Thorat, Assistant Professor at IDEA, provided detailed insights into the opportunities and challenges of natural farming. Farmers were also guided about various government schemes related to natural farming at the state and central levels, encouraging them to take advantage of these schemes.
The training covered key aspects of natural farming, including:
- Jeevamrut (organic liquid manure)
- Beejamrut (seed treatment solution)
- Ghan Jeevamrut (solid organic manure)
- Mulching
- Mixed cropping methods
Additionally, the importance of indigenous cows and their by-products in natural farming was emphasized. Farmers were educated on the role of microorganisms in sustainable farming and were given a practical demonstration at the Bio-Fertilizer Department.
To enhance hands-on learning, farmers also visited the Agronomy Department at BACA, Anand, where they gained in-depth knowledge about various dimensions of natural farming.
