Approximately 6,305 square meters of land worth over ₹12.50 crore cleared
Canal cleaning was previously obstructed due to illegal encroachments
Anand, Wednesday: Under the guidance of Anand District Collector Mr. Praveen Choudhary, the district administration and Anand Municipal Commissioner Mr. Milind Bapna have been actively working to remove illegal encroachments in Anand district and the municipal area. As part of this initiative, following due legal procedures under the Land Revenue Act, a team led by Mamlatdar (City) and the municipal corporation removed 88 illegal structures (both temporary and permanent) near Amin Auto in Anand. This operation freed approximately 6,305 square meters of land valued at over ₹12.50 crore.
Due to these encroachments, proper cleaning of the Anand-Mogri Canal in the area had been hindered. As a result, residents faced difficulties during the monsoon season due to inadequate drainage and maintenance.
Recognizing the importance of this issue, the district administration immediately initiated canal cleaning after the encroachments were removed. Following Collector Mr. Praveen Choudhary’s directive, the Irrigation Department deployed a dozer machine and a long-reach machine to begin the cleaning process. Earlier, illegal encroachments had blocked access to the canal, preventing the use of long-reach machines for proper maintenance.
With the use of this long-reach machine, approximately 500 meters of the canal will be completely cleaned within a week. Currently, a pathway is being created using a dozer machine, enabling the long-reach machine to access and clean the canal effectively.
According to the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department, utilizing a long-reach machine for cleaning the Anand-Mogri Canal will ensure a more efficient and systematic cleaning process.
