District Election Officer and Collector Orders Establishments to Grant Employees Time Off for Voting
Anand, Saturday: According to the election notification issued by the State Election Commission, Gandhinagar, general and by-elections for Boriavi, Ode, Anklav, and Umreth municipalities, as well as for seat 24-Udel-2 of the Khambhat Taluka Panchayat, are scheduled to be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Since the voting day falls on a Sunday, when municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats, taluka panchayats, and their subordinate offices are generally closed, it is expected that most employees will be able to vote. However, certain offices and establishments, such as rural banks, national and private banks, cooperative banks, essential government services (such as railways, telecommunications, telegraph, and postal services), shops, commercial establishments, hotels, industrial units, factories, government hospitals, police stations, fire brigades, and other essential service providers, remain operational on Sundays.
To ensure that employees of these establishments are not deprived of their voting rights, the District Election Officer and Collector have ordered that alternative arrangements be made. Employees should be allowed to arrive late, leave early, or be granted a short leave during office hours to enable them to vote on election day.
