Food and Drug Regulatory Department Conducts Special Drive to Collect Samples of Various Food Items for Testing

Anand, Monday: The Food Safety Department of Anand District conducted a special drive in February 2025, collecting samples of various food items for testing and segregation. The collected samples included:

  • 17 samples of prepared/cooked food
  • 11 samples of namkeen/farsan
  • 9 samples of spices
  • 4 samples of edible oils
  • 2 samples of dates
  • 2 samples of tea
  • 2 samples of sweets
  • 2 samples of iodized salt
  • 1 sample each of semolina (sooji), gram flour (besan), and instant mix

Additionally, during a special drive from February 28 to March 2, the department conducted quality checks on milk sold in markets across Anand City, Vidyanagar, Ravipura, Maroj, and Tarapur, collecting 19 milk samples for further analysis.

In the second week of March, inspections were carried out at restaurants in Anand City, Karamsad, and Vidyanagar, where:

  • 3 cheese samples
  • 2 pre-prepared food samples
  • 1 paneer sample were collected for testing.

Furthermore, based on a consumer complaint, an inspection was conducted at Shiv Café Restaurant in Karamsad, where a packaged drinking water sample was collected for testing, and 596 bottles of 500ml each (valued at ₹5,960) were seized. The establishment was also issued an improvement notice for observed deficiencies during the inspection.

The Food and Drug Regulatory Department, Anand, stated in an official release that further action will be taken based on the test reports of the collected samples.
