Canal Maintenance Work to Be Completed Before Kharif Season by Anand Irrigation Department

Anand, Friday: The Anand Irrigation Department oversees the Bharadan and Borsad Irrigation Sub-Divisions, which include main canals, branch canals, minor canals, and sub-minor canals in the Borsad region. During the Kharif and Rabi seasons, water is supplied through these canals based on farmers’ demands.

Before the Kharif season, jungle cutting and desilting operations are carried out to ensure smooth water flow.

The Anand Irrigation Department takes into account farmers’ requests and the condition of canals to carry out satisfactory cleaning work every year, preventing issues such as overflow or waterlogging.

Additionally, under the Sujalam Sufalam scheme, a budget estimate is prepared for necessary canal cleaning and maintenance for the 2025 Kharif season. Once approved, jungle cutting and desilting operations will be completed before the season begins, according to the Executive Engineer of the Anand Irrigation Department.
