Anand, Friday: After Anand was declared a Municipal Corporation by the state government, Milind Bapna was appointed as its first Municipal Commissioner.
Under his guidance, the Anand Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a cleanliness drive as part of the Swachh Survekshan initiative. The campaign focuses on banning single-use plastic, proper disposal of solid waste, and imposing fines on littering in public places.
Key Actions Taken (January 3 – February 20, 2025):
- 183 shopkeepers fined ₹1,36,720 for using single-use plastic.
- 1,813 kg of plastic (below 120 microns thickness) confiscated.
- 821 individuals and shopkeepers fined ₹1,52,950 for littering in public.
- 2 individuals fined ₹150 for open defecation.
Since its formation, AMC has fined a total of 1006 individuals and businesses, collecting ₹2,89,820 in penalties.
Municipal Commissioner Milind Bapna has urged citizens and shopkeepers not to litter in public places and to stop using single-use plastic. He has called upon all residents to support AMC’s efforts in keeping the city clean.
