Publish Date : 24/03/2025

Anand, Monday: The Institute of Distance Education (IDEA) of Anand Agricultural University (AAU), Anand, in collaboration with the District Agriculture Officer’s Office, District Panchayat, Ahmedabad, organized a Natural Farming Training Program on March 20 and 21, 2025, at Aniket Khedut Nivas, AAU, Anand, for Gram Sevaks and Extension Officers (Agriculture) of Ahmedabad District.

Participation and Training Content

Around 100 Gram Sevaks and Extension Officers from Ahmedabad district participated in the training program. They were provided with in-depth knowledge on:

  • Introduction to Natural Farming, its principles, various aspects, opportunities, and benefits.
  • Preparation of organic inputs like Jeevamrut, Beejamrut, and Ghana Jeevamrut, along with guidance on mulching and mixed cropping methods.
  • The role and significance of microorganisms, indigenous cows, and agricultural by-products in natural farming.

Objective of the Training

The primary aim of this training was to equip Gram Sevaks and Extension Officers—who work directly with farmers—with detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of natural farming, as explained by AAU scientists. This would enable them to effectively educate and guide farmers in adopting natural farming techniques.

Expected Impact

The organizers hope that more farmers will shift toward natural farming, reducing their dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This will not only lower farming costs but also help maintain soil health, protect the environment, and produce chemical-free crops.
