Training Program on ‘Natural Farming’ Held at Anand Agricultural University

A Total of 44 Farmers Enthusiastically Participated in the Program.

Anand, Monday: The Department of Agronomy, B.A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, organized a five-day training program on Natural Farming from March 17 to March 21, 2025 under the leadership of Dr. V. J. Patel, Head of the Agronomy Department.

A total of 44 farmers, including 20 men and 24 women from Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Mahisagar, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Botad, Mehsana, and Patan districts, actively participated in the training program.

Key Highlights of the Training

The program covered various aspects of natural farming, including:

  • Preparation and use of organic fertilizers and pesticides, such as Jeevamrut, Beejamrut, Neemastra, Brahmastra, Agniastra, and Dashparni Ark.
  • The importance of indigenous cows in natural farming.
  • The significance of mixed and intercropping techniques.

Additionally, experts discussed the challenges of natural farming and their possible solutions, aiming to encourage farmers to shift towards natural farming and produce chemical-free grains, vegetables, and fruits for better profitability.

Field Visits for Practical Exposure

To further inspire the trainees, they visited progressive natural farmers in the Anand region, including:

  • Deveshbhai Patel (Boriavi)
  • Arunbhai Shah (Sanjeevani Farm, Piplata)
  • Umeshgiri Goswami (Giri Farm, Narsanda)

They also visited the research experiments on natural farming conducted by the Agronomy Department at Anand Agricultural University.

Program Conclusion

At the end of the training, farmers shared their feedback on the program. Dr. P. M. Patel, Dr. A. P. Patel, and Dr. M. H. Chavda, along with participating farmers, were present at the event.
